S.P.O.R.T. Gymnastics is located in USA Gymnastics Region 2 which consists of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Alaska and Hawaii. They compete mostly in Oregon, Idaho, and Washington. For compulsory gymnastics, Washington State is divided into 4 sections of which we are part of the Eastern Section. Compulsory gymnasts qualify to our Eastern Sectional meet and then must qualify for state from that meet. Levels 8, 9, & 10 may also qualify to Regionals from the State Meet and Level 9 qualifies to Westerns from Regionals and Level 10 to Nationals.
Congratulations to all our teams this weekend. Everybody had a fantastic meet! We had 2 gymnasts, Brittany Martinez and Lexie Peyton,qualify for the Eastern Level 4 Sectional team which will compete the weekend of Level 5/6 State against the other 3 Sectional teams. Our Level 4 team was third (one tenth from 2nd place) and our Level 6 team was 2nd. All the Level 4's qualified for State. State for Level 4 has 3 levels: Gold: Brittany, Lexie, and Aleah, Silver: Emily, Brianna, and Bronze: Sierra, Nyah, Sophia and Alexis. Level 5 qualifiers: Valerie and Melissa. Level 6 Qualfiers: Morgan, Tehya, Ali and Alyssa.
We had 6 gymnasts who took first place in their age group. Level 4's: Brittany, 9 yr. olds., 37.625, Lexie, 12 yr. olds, 36.850, Level 5: Valerie, 12 yr. olds and up, 37.550, Level 6: 12 yr olds, Alexis Hughes, 13 and up, Level 4, 33.30, Ali,35.60, 14 yr. olds, Morgan,33.725. Both Brittany and Valerie also had the high scores of their entire session regardless of age group.
Level 4 State: Saturday May 7 and Sunday, May 8 at Sammamish HIgh School, 100 - 140th Ave, Bellevue, WA 98005 Tentative Schedule, Saturday, Bronze and Silver, Sunday, Gold and Silver, When I get the exact info of when your child will be competing, I will pass it on.
Level 5/6 State and Level 4 Sectional Team: April 30 and May 1, TRAC, 6600 Burden Blvd, Pasco, WA 99301 The Level 5's are on Saturday and the Level 6's and Sectional Team on Sunday.
Workout Level 6's this week - Mon 6 - 8, Tues 5:30 - 8:00, no workout Wed, Thurs, 5:30 -8:00 and Friday, 4 - 7. 4's and 5's -Tues/Thurs 5:30 -7:30 except for Lexi, Aleah and Brittany - They go to 8:00. Everyone works out Friday, 4 - 7.
Congratulations to the Level 4 Team for a 3rd place finish at the Bumbershoot Invitational on Feb. 11. Congratulations also to Brittany Martinez for the highest bar score of 9.50 and to Alexis Peyton for recieving an award for the highest beam score, 9.20.
Congratulations to Julia Williams for first place finishes on vault, beam, and floor at the Bumbershoot Invitational at the Tacoma Convention Center. Also, good luck to Julia at Level 8 State at North Kitsap High School on March 27.
Congratulations to the Level 6 Team for a first place finish at the Cascade Elite Team Championships on Feb. 26 and to the Level 4 Team for a 2nd place finish. The compulsory team qualified for finals on Sunday and took 2nd place.
Jan 24 and 25, SPORT teams competed in the Flip Festival held at the Spokane Convention Center. Both the Level 4 team and the Novice Rec Opt team took first place. Other first places finishes in the all-round were: Level 4 - Haille Johnson and Tehya Stephens, Level 5 - Ali Pierce and Alyssa Laney, Rec Opt Novice - Melissa Guzman and Mercedes Roberts, Rec. Advanced - Erin Mauk, and Level 8 - Amy Mugg. Feb. 6,7, & 8, the teams compete at the University of Idaho in Moscow.
Thanks to the all the teams and Jr. team for the great exhibition on Friday, Jan. 30 at Robert E. Lee school in East Wenatchee. They will also be doing an exhibition at John Newbery on Monday, Feb. 9th.
